Trinidad
& Tobago finishes in ninth place
TIJUANA, Mexico, July 9, 2010 – Trinidad & Tobago beat
Guadeloupe in straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-23) to conclude in
the ninth position at the NORCECA Women’s Junior Volleyball
Championship.
It was the first victory for the Trinidadians while the
Guadeloupeans finished winless. The winners had a 9-6 advantage
in serving aces and also took advantage of 35 errors by the
defeated side.
Marisha Herbert, Captain of the winners, led her team with 14
points including four aces, while Samantha Prescott and Chrysta
Stuart added 11 and 9 points respectively. The Guadeloupeans had
Julia Disa with 14 points and Yannick Ferbac with 12 including 5
blocks.
Herbert, the Captain of Trinidad, said: “We fought a lot, with
more consistency and we did our best for this victory”.
“It is nice to end with a victory,” Trinidadian Coach Macsood
Ali added. “It has been a good experience and now we will go
back home to work hard for a good development.”
“The tournament has been an important one for us because we
don’t play at this level regularly and we’ve tried to learn,”
Guadeloupean coach Jean-Louis Delag said.
